Assma A. Ali, was born and raised in Bakersfield, California. Assma’s mother and father immigrated from Yemen to California more than 45 years ago, making her a first-generation American citizen.

Assma earned an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice at Bakersfield College. While attending Bakersfield College, Assma was elected as the Student Body Treasurer, and was chosen to be a Key Speaker for two consecutive years at the Future Leaders Conference. She was also the co-founder of the Renegade Pantry, which is a student assistance program that exists to help maintain the health and welfare of Bakersfield College students through organized college, community sponsorship, and donations of nonperishable food, clothing and hygiene items.

Assma passed the Bar in February of 2017 and was sworn into practice in April of 2017. She is a member of the Jackson Young Lawyers Association, the Mississippi Bar and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Assma is bilingual and speaks both English and Arabic. Assma is married with two children. Assma joined Elmore & Peterson Law Firm in July of 2017.
